Hobo - A scooped top or slouchy bag usually with a single long shoulder strap. Slouchy structure forms its classic crescent shape.

Tote - A large bag with an open or zippered top and two long handles. Totes are often called shoppers or carryalls. Totes can come in wide or tall varieties. Other variants include the bowler.

Clutch - Clutches are handheld bags that are clutched in the hand. While most do not have handles, some may have short handles, wrist straps or hideaway handles. Typically used for evening and formal occasions.

Frame - A bag with a stiff frame along the opening, which allows for easier access. Other bag shapes can have frames such as the frame satchel.

Messenger - A handbag with a long, adjustable strap designed to be worn across the shoulders. Named after those bags originally carried by mail couriers.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Weekender - A very large bag used for carrying everything but the kitchen sink. Modeled after luggage, it is also termed a carryall or a very large tote.
